BENGKULU PROVINCE'S ECONOMIC GROWTH IN
Q3 2023 IS 3.96 PERCENT
The economy of Bengkulu Province in
Quarter III-2023 compared to Quarter III-2022 (y-on-y) experienced growth of
3.96 percent. Growth occurred in 14 business fields, while three other business
fields experienced contraction (negative growth).
The three business fields that
experienced the highest growth were Providing Accommodation and Food and Drink
at 10.05 percent; followed by Information and Communication at 9.91 percent;
and Other Services by 9.54 percent. Meanwhile, the three business fields that
experienced contraction were Financial Services and Insurance by minus 6.61
percent; Mining and Quarrying was minus 0.67 percent; and the Processing
Industry at minus 0.30 percent. The Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries
business fields which have a dominant role experienced growth of 2.74 percent.
Meanwhile, Bengkulu Province is in 8th position out of 10 provinces on the
island of Sumatra with growth (y-on-y) of 3.96 percent. Spatially, South
Sumatra Province experienced the highest (y-on-y) growth on Sumatra Island,
namely 5.08 percent.
In terms of the state of the workforce,
the working age population of Bengkulu Province tends to increase as the
population increases. The working age population in August 2023 was 1,561,735
people, an increase of 20,185 people compared to August 2022. Most of the
working age population is in the labor force, namely 1,107,460 people, the
remainder is in the non-labor force, 454,275 people.
In August 2023, the population working
in informal activities was 724,859 people (67.77 percent), while those working
in formal activities were 344,756 people (32.23 percent). Compared to August
2022, the percentage of the population working in formal activities has
decreased by 0.23 percentage points.
