In October 2019, Bengkulu City experienced a deflation of 0.56 percent. Based on the monitoring of the Central Statistics Agency in 82 cities in Indonesia, 43 cities experienced inflation and 39 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Manado by 1.22 percent and the lowest inflation in Pematang Siantar, Tual and Ternate by 0.01 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Balikpapan by 0.69 percent and the lowest occurred in Palopo by 0.01 percent.
Deflation in Bengkulu City in October 2019 occurred in three expenditure groups, while four expenditure groups experienced inflation. The expenditure group experiencing the highest deflation was the transportation, communication and financial services group with deflation of 2.27 percent, followed by the food expenditure group by 0.74 percent and the education, recreation and sports expenditure group by 0.06 percent. While the expenditure groups experiencing inflation were the food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco expenditure group by 0.35 percent followed by the health expenditure group by 0.30 percent, the clothing expenditure group by 0.10 percent, the housing, water, electricity, gas expenditure group and fuel by 0.06 percent.
With deflation of 0.56 percent in October 2019, the magnitude of calendar year inflation (inflation rate) is 2.58 percent, and annual inflation (year on year) is recorded at 3.59 percent.
