BPS participation in the 2023 United Nations World Data Forum

Data is a hot topic of discussion today. The high demand for data, while maintaining the fundamental aspects of statistics is a challenge to implement. To answer this, the United Nations organized the World Data Forum (UNWDF) 2023. The activity, which was held on 24-27 April 2023 in Hangzhou China, featured more than 100 events, including 6 high-level plenary sessions, 70 parallel sessions, as well as around 30 other activities including demonstrations live events, exhibitions, and thematic forums related to data ecosystems.

Indonesia through BPS and UNFPA was also present at UNWDF 2023. At the panel session, BPS represented by the Deputy for Methodology and Statistical Information, Imam Machdi presented material related to the future of the Population Census in Indonesia. The presentation was initiated by BPS's response in conducting the 2020 Population Census during the pandemic, which then led to innovations in the use of information technology modes and the combined method (utilization of administrative data). Going forward, BPS plans to maximize the potential of administrative data in supporting the 2030 Population Census.
