Abstract

In March 2020, the number of poor people (population with per capita expenditure per month below the Poverty Line) in Bengkulu Province reached 302,579 people (15.03 percent), an increase of 277 compared to the March 2019 condition of 302,302 people (15, 23 percent).
The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2019 was 14.70 percent, increasing to 14.77 percent in March 2020. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in March 2019 was 15.49 percent, down to 15.16 percent in March 2020.
During the period March 2019-March 2020, the number of poor people in urban areas rose by 2,032 people (from 96,518 people in March 2019 to 98,550 people in March 2020), whereas in rural areas it decreased by 1,754 people (from 205,783 people in March 2019 to 204,029 people people in March 2020).
The role of food commodities towards the Poverty Line is far greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). Contribution of Food Poverty Line to Poverty Line in March 2020 was recorded at 73.93 percent. This condition has increased when compared to conditions in March 2019 which amounted to 73.89 percent.
