Abstract
• In March 2023, the number of poor people (population with per capita spending per month below the poverty line) in Bengkulu Province reached 14.04 percent (288.46 thousand people), decreased by 0.58 percentage point compared to conditions in March 2022 which amounted to 14.62 percent (297.23 thousand people).
• The percentage of poor people
in urban areas in March 2022 was 14.88 percent, dropping to 14.21 percent in
March 2023. Meanwhile, the percentage of poor people in rural areas in March
2022 was 14.49 percent, dropping to 13.96 percent in March 2023.
• During the period September
2022-March 2023, the number of poor people in urban areas decreased by around
1.4 thousand people (from 99.08 thousand people in September 2022 to 97.66
thousand people in March 2023), as well as in rural areas it decreased by
around 3 thousand people (from 193.85 thousand people in September 2022 to
190.80 thousand people in March 2023).
• The role of food commodities in
the Poverty Line is far greater than that of non-food commodities. The
contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line in March 2023 was
recorded at 73.25 percent. This condition experienced an increase of 1.84
percent when compared to conditions in September 2022.
