How to strengthen the agricultural sector to boost other sectors. The hope is that in 2024 Bengkulu's economy can grow higher than in 2023. Therefore, the main focus is how to strengthen human resources, especially in the agricultural sector, not just in terms of natural resources. It is believed that this strategy will improve economic performance, which will not only grow, but can become a leap for the economy. This was conveyed by the Head of BPS Bengkulu Province, Ir. Win Rizal, ME, when asked to be a resource person at the 2024 Bengkulu Economic Workshop held by Representatives of Bank Indonesia Bengkulu Province, Monday, February 26 2024.
Win Rizal further said that the economy of Bengkulu Province in 2023 grew by 4.26 percent, a slight slowdown compared to the achievement in 2022 which grew by 4.31 percent. However, the economic growth achievements of Bengkulu Province in the last 3 years after the 2019 Covid pandemic tend to show a trend that continues to improve.
In terms of business fields, the economy of Bengkulu Province is dominated by agricultural businesses with a contribution to GRDP of 28.26 percent. In 2023, agricultural business fields will only grow by 2.06 percent. Meanwhile, other service business fields experienced the highest growth, namely 9.93 percent.
In the event which was opened by the Regional Secretary of Bengkulu Province, Isnan Fajri, Sos., M.Kes, also presented resource persons, Head of Bank Indonesia Representative for Bengkulu Province, Darjana, as host, Chair of ISEI Bengkulu and ISEI West Region Coordinator Dr. Retno Agustina E, SE., M.Sc, Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury of Bengkulu Province Bayu Andy P, SE., M.Si, and Head of the Supervision of Financial Services Institutions of the Bengkulu Province OJK Hulman Marudut Sinaga.
